Why can you not hide the Leading Edge Bar in the pit housing? If we could, we would have done so. The leading edge bar is pivotal to making sure that no entry can be made into the pool once the cover is closed and also for being able to span pool widths up to 22ft. Due to the pit housing lid being flush with the surround decking, it is impossible to house the lid support brackets and a leading edge bar in the same location. Can I install the pit or suface housing away from the pool edge? It is not advisable. If a pit housing is placed away from the edge of the pool, the whole surface area of the fabric material has to be pulled over a large amount of paving/tiled area. Although 'cover treatment' can be applied, it will severely reduce the operating efficiency of the cover and possibly cause excessive wear and tear. Depending on the pool size, we recommend that a pit/surface housing is installed no more than 18-24" away from the pool edge. Ideally, all Aquamatic systems should be installed directly behind the pool wall. Consult your dealer to discuss the options that are available to you. How long does it take to install an Aquamatic Cover? Normally, one day by two people providing all construction work and electrical connections have been carried out prior to arrival. We have been offered other cover systems that have a hydraulic drive system, what is the difference? Other cover systems use only one hydraulic motor to take the cover on and off the pool and often incorporate a 'clutch system'! All our Aquamatic covers have two hydraulic motor’s as standard with a reverse flow manifold. Why should I pay more more for a hydraulic system compared to an electric operated cover? Reliability. Hydraulics motors are not effected by water, flooding or condensation. An Aquamatic drive system has a 20 year prorated warranty. Other drive systems that are prone to water damage are not covered under warranty, therefore it may turn out more expensive in the long run! What happens if the cover fabric is damaged i.e. punctured, torn or cut? On site welding can be arranged for minor repairs. For very small punctures, holes etc. adhesive patches are available from your dealer. Why do you use Nylon Cord instead of Steel Cable? Nylon Cord will normally out last the life of the cover fabric. Aquamatic first used steel cable in its earlier models but it proved to have a shorter life expectancy, normally 2-3 years only and an expensive repair cost to the consumer! Do I need a Cover Pump to remove rain water? During the Summer months the Screen Mesh (welded into the cover) will drain any surface water. During the Winter season or prolonged rain showers a Cover Pump, which is supplied with the cover, should be used. Do I still drain the pool for the winter period? No. The pool water level must never be lowered. A frost stat can be installed, to protect against frost damage to filtration plant and pipework. When closing the cover, what happens if there is an obstruction in the pool? Pressure relief valves ensure that the cover ceases to operate. Do you have an emergency call-out / repair service? If, for whatever reasons, a cover system becomes inoperable every effort will be made, by our trained staff, to attend site and rectify any problems as soon as possible. We would advise that children and pets should be kept under strict supervision until the problem is rectified.
