EPDM is an elastomeric compound that is manufactured from from
Ehtyleen Propyleen-Diene-Monomer (EPDM). These ingredients are
synthesized to produce a product that exhibits a high degree of
ozone, ultraviolet, weathering and abrasion resistance, and
outstanding low temperature flexibility. These ingredients also
contribute to resistance to acids, alkalis, and oxygenated solvents
(i.e., ketones, esters, and alcohols).
| | EPDM performance With over 1 billion square feet of EPDM
membraneinstalled worldwide, EPDM has established itself as
themembrane for all climatic conditions. This is supported byvarious
laboratory studies and actual field installations. Thisexcellent
track record is the result of unique and unmatchedphysical
characteristics:EPDM has superior resistance to UV (ultraviolet)
radiationEPDM has unmatched resistance to thermal shockEPDM exhibits
superior resistance to cyclic fatigueEPDM has superior resistance to
hail damageEPDM will not become brittle and will not shatter due to
low temperatures

EPDM is one of the most sustainable and environmental materials used
today in the construction industry. Its excellent performance
transfers to low life cycle costs and less impact on the
environment. EPDM can be recycled into the manufacturing of other
products and accessories, thus minimizing the impact on landfills
|
|
With many EPDM installations exceeding 15 years of exposure in the
field under various climatic conditions, none of the material tested
has shown alarming signs of degradation. Even though it would be
difficult to predict, studies have shown aged EPDM as having a
potential life expectancy of 15 - 20 years!

In most situations your current filtration systemhas adequate
pressure to supply water to thesolar collector, normally up to 8m
high. Yourwater flow pressure is very dependable on thepower of the
filtration pump, plumbingconfiguration etc. If you are unsure
about the necessity for abooster pump, try using your existing
filtrationfirst! In the event that there is not enough
waterpressure you will need to invest in a boosterpump and sun
sensor (optional). The boosterpump will require a water supply
utilising theMain Drain suction line.
| |
If a Booster Pump is to beinstalled on your solar system it is worth
investing in a sunsensor that will enable you togain the optimum
heat energyavailable from the sun. A sun sensor is an
electronicthermostat that will operate theBooster Pump when solar
heatis available. In the event thatthere is no solar heat e.g.
afterdusk the control sensor will turnoff the Booster Pump.
