Bespoke Dual Control Heat Pump System
The client needed a heater that was suitable for heating their 100CBM outdoor pool at their rural property. By working with our partners at Spruce Pools, we were able to design a unique dual control delay (DCD) system to support appropriate heating solutions for the pool. This system was also essential to optimise heating performance throughout the year.

The Challenge
The client was seeking a single-phase heater for an existing 100CBM outdoor pool with no heat retention cover. The challenge here was finding an appropriate heating solution that was both efficient and cost-effective. It also needed to operate on a single-phase electricity supply, as the rural location meant power supplies were limited. After conducting some research, it was clear that a standard 32kW heat pump was probably going to be insufficient for the customer’s expectations.
Control System Development
Working with an in-house electrical engineer, the Paramount team designed a unique Dual Control Delay (DCD) that enables the two 22kW Mr Perfect heat pumps to run independently.
Utilising the inverter’s low amperage start-up consumption, the DCD utilises two 25AMP breakers, but not at the same time. An internal time delay mechanism is connected directly to a specified port within the heat pump’s internal electrical control circuit board.
The Result
The solution enabled the client to produce up to 44KW of heat output on a single-phase supply. In fact, the DCD can be used on any single-phase Mr Perfect models between 22-32kW, doubling their output. The pool was surrounded on two sides by an old stone wall and building frontage, which we were very careful to leave untouched in the installation process.
The Mr Perfect heat pump was chosen for this project primarily due to its high-efficiency heat exchanger, near-silent operation, and soft start electrical protection. Its InverPad Turbo technology also helps ensure excellent performance in colder temperatures by increasing the heat exchange area and maximising heat output.
Testimonial
“Trying to heat the pool without a heat retention cover is a challenge in itself. We were sceptical of the idea initially, but having installed the heaters in May, they worked perfectly well until the end of September! The client was over the moon as they were able to swim much longer into the season”
