FAQs

What is the law around swimming pool safety?

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) outlines that anyone in charge of a swimming pool has an obligation to ensure the safety of pool users and workers. This is largely governed by the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, although healthcare institutions may place additional requirements on pools to ensure the safety of patients.

What are the correct chlorine levels to prevent germs?

If pool chlorine levels are too low, it can lead to the spread of disease and infection. If they’re too high, this can also pose a risk for patients. The ideal total chlorine value in your pool is between 5-7 parts per million (ppm), but it will be safe to swim in as long as it is below 10ppm.

Will the swimming pool installation disrupt hospital operations?

The amount of time it takes to install a healthcare pool will depend on the size and type of pool, along with any considerations due to the layout of the premises. A professional pool installer will take all steps necessary to cause as little disruption as possible to healthcare operations and complete the installation quickly.
